Adding and Embedding Assessments on Your Website

There are several ways to share your assessment with your website visitors.

  2. Take a screenshot image of the first page of your assessment.  Then place it on your website and link that image to your assessment URL.

3.  Add an iFrame to your web page and put the assessment URL inside an iFrame.  This will make your assessment appear to be live at your site even though it is still hosted at Assessment Generator.

Below is the iFrame code to use to embed your assessment.  Place it inside the body of your website and replace the XXXX with the ID of your assessment.  Your assessment ID can be found by selecting “Add to Site” from the Actions drop-down menu in your Assessment Generator account.

When you use this code your assessment will occupy the full width of the web page. It also works on mobile devices.

You may need to adjust the height of the iframe (height: 1000px;) to accommodate your particular assessment.

You may have noticed your inbox filling up with notices from online businesses about new privacy policies. Don’t worry, you’re not alone!

The European Union (EU) has a new privacy regulation that goes into effect on 25 May 2018.  It is called the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and it affects everyone who collects information about any EU citizens.

How Our Updated Privacy Policy Affects You

For assessments that request a user’s name and/or email address, we have made a couple of changes to Assessment Generator that will ensure that your assessments are in compliance with this new rule.

When a user is prompted to enter their contact information at the end of your assessment, they will be required to select a checkbox indicating that they agree to a data use statement.

Beginning on May 25, 2018, this checkbox and the data use agreement will be added to assessments. The data use statement has been added to all Assessment Generator accounts and you can modify it now. This gives you an opportunity to customize your statement before your users see it.

We have added a default statement to your account that you can customize for each of your assessments if you wish:

Click here to acknowledge that the creator of this assessment will use your information to provide an analysis of your results and additional followup communication.

Customizing Your Privacy Message

You can customize the content of this statement for each of your assessments if you wish. You may include a link to your privacy policy using an HTML link.

Here’s how to customize your data use agreement:

  1. Log into your account and find the assessment you’d like to modify
  2. In Actions drop-down menu, select Edit Assessment
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Edit Results
  4. Find the field labeled “Opt-in Consent Text” and modify the content as needed
  5. Save your assessment

Remember, your statement will not appear on your assessment until May 25.

In addition to the statement that you provide, we will also include a brief statement describing how Assessment Generator will use the data:

By submitting this form, you acknowledge that your information will be transferred to a third party service for processing in accordance with their privacy policy.

We have also updated the Assessment Generator privacy policies both for our account holders and for end users (people who take assessments) to comply with the new regulations.

Adding Videos to Your Assessments

There are many great reasons to add videos to your assessments:

  • Customers and prospects are more likely to watch a video than read instructions carefully.

  • Videos are searchable (which helps with SEO)

With Assessment Generator you can add videos to your assessments.  

Common places to use videos are in the assessment instruction area and in the area above the request for name and email address on the customization page.  You can also include videos in your assessment questions!

To add a video to your assessment, first prepare your video either by uploading it to your YouTube account or by saving your video in MP4 version to a file online.

If you are using a YouTube video, copy the EMBED code to a notepad document.  Click here for YouTube instructions on how to do this.

If you are using an MP4 file that is stored on your website, copy the entire URL and paste it into a notepad document.

Next, choose the area in Assessment Generator where you want to put your video.

You can insert videos into any editor window in Assessment Generator.  Click on the World icon (shown in the red box).

Copy your video URL into the URL box in the pop-up window:

Add the desired width and height of your video.  We recommend using 560 for the width and 315 for the height.  Don’t worry, we’ll adjust things behind the scenes to make sure your video works properly on smaller screens.  Click OK.

Click the SAVE button at the bottom of the page to save your changes.

To test, select “Add to Site” from the drop-down menu.  Copy your assessment URL into a new browser window.

NOTE: For best results, we recommend testing using a Private window in Safari (File > New Private Window) or an Incognito window in Chrome (File > New Incognito window).

And that’s it!  Your video and assessment are ready to go.

Welcome to our first blog post for 2018! We hope your new year is getting off to a productive and prosperous start!

Today we’d like to share with you the news that Zapier now offers integrations with 1,000 apps! That means that your Assessment Generator account can interface with all of those applications.

What is an Integration?

Let’s back up for a minute. What is an “integration” anyway? It means, if two apps are integrated they can talk to one another without any prompting from the user.

Let’s look at a quick example.

Let’s say you have an assessment in your Assessment Generator account. You also have a spreadsheet on Google Docs that you update every time someone takes your assessment where you add their name, email address, and the score they received on your assessment. With a Zapier integration, you can make that happen automatically. When someone takes your assessment, your spreadsheet is automatically updated.

This is a simple example. We’ve put together a video tutorial that describes how you can link Assessment Generator to your Active Campaign account, tagging users based on the score they received on their assessment so that you can send them marketing materials targeted to their specific needs.

How do I set up an Integration?

Integrations are easy to set up using Zapier’s friendly user interface. Even better, the Zapier service is free for simple integrations like the ones described above! You’ll need to create an account with Zapier, then create a Zap with Assessment Generator.
